Event Overview:

In the Figma Fest: UI/UX Design Jam, participants will design a user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) for a provided project use case using Figma. This contest will challenge your creativity, design thinking, and understanding of user-centered design principles.

Pre-requisites:

  • Figma Account: Ensure you have an active Figma account before the event begins. If you don’t have one, sign up for free at figma.com.
  •  Basic UI/UX Knowledge: While prior experience isn’t mandatory, participants should have basic knowledge of UI/UX principles such as wireframing, user flows, and design systems.

Event Rounds:

Round 1: Design Kick-off & Research

  • Understand the Problem Statement: You will be given a use case (e.g., a mobile app, a website, or a dashboard) and must identify user needs, goals, and pain points.
  • Research & Ideation: Research the target audience, define user personas, and identify key design requirements. Think about the user journey and how the design should flow.
  • Sketch & Wireframe: Using Figma, create initial sketches or wireframes to lay out the basic structure of your design, including key screens and interactions.

Round 2: UI/UX Design Creation

  • Design the Interface: Move from wireframes to high-fidelity UI design. Use Figma to create visual elements such as buttons, typography, color schemes, and icons that align with your design.
  • Ensure Usability: Implement best UX practices, focusing on user-friendly navigation, consistency across screens, and accessibility. Think about how users will interact with your design.
  • Prototype: Build an interactive prototype that demonstrates the user flow and key interactions. Link your screens together to show how users would navigate through your design.
  • Test & Iterate: Test your prototype’s functionality and usability. Make any necessary adjustments to improve the overall user experience.
